Introducing a New Music Training Programmestefan_colour.jpg

Music Another Way with Stefan Cartwright

Music Another Way is an exploration of our innate music and how we can use sound and music to bring harmony to our lives and communities. This foundation course removes the barriers to musical understanding and frees us to enjoy making sound using our voices and the simple instruments provided. There is no need to read music or to have any prior musical knowledge or training; the basis of this exploration is listening.
The programme comprises four complementary, stand-alone weekends, which together provide a framework for practice:
Living Sound 9-11 April, explores the nature and inner effect of sound; Click here for details http://www.hawkwoodcollege.co.uk/courses/view.php?id=365

Finding The Voice 11-13 June, will guide you to your natural singing voice; Click here for details. http://www.hawkwoodcollege.co.uk/courses/view.php?id=382

Rhythms of Life 10-12 September, takes us from the inner pulse to the expression of rhythm.
Guest players Barry Mason and Lina Lotto; Click here for more details. http://www.hawkwoodcollege.co.uk/courses/view.php?id=409

Intuitive Music  15-17 October, explores our creativity with sound, through group improvisation.
Guest players Erik Huele and Andrew Hodges; Click here for more details. http://www.hawkwoodcollege.co.uk/courses/view.php?id=421

Fee (4 weekends): £952 single board; £862 shared board; £702 non residential. Payment term options are available. The group size is limited to twelve and while each weekend is open to anyone, priority will be given to those who commit to the full course. CPD certificates are available upon request.

Course tutor  Stefan Cartwright's experience ranges from electronic music composition to musical instrument development and includes working with sound in the local and wider community. The practice of Yoga has influenced his work, drawing him to more primal sound sources, including the gong and voice. He is a vocal student in the northern Indian raga tradition and performs improvised music, singing and playing with the acoustic trio Bardo Muse.
