Artist in Residence: Alicia Jane Turner

In Reflection

I spent time at Hawkwood in September 2020 to begin research and development on a new sound and instruction-led theatre experience called "THIRST TRAP," created with writer Rachael Young. The project explores Climate Justice and our relationship with water, and we had a wonderful week at Hawkwood working on ideas and collaborating remotely with dramaturg Season Butler and Climate Justice Consultant Suzanne Dhaliwal.

Being away from London in such a peaceful place was crucial, especially after lockdown. My favourite memory was seeing a young deer staring at me—such a special moment!

Alicia Jane Turner
Alicia is an interdisciplinary sound artist whose work spans contemporary theatre, live art, and experimental music. She collaborates on projects that are provocative and political, through a feminist and queer lens. Alicia was a Bang on a Can composer fellow in 2018 and is a London Sinfonietta Writing the Future composer for 2020-2021.
