Celtic Myth & Vedic Tradition

28th November 2025 - 30th November 2025

Facilitator: Caitlín Matthews, John Matthews and Dwina Murphy-Gibb

From India to Ireland.

We will trace the heroic and spiritual myths that join the Indo-European stream from India to Ireland. Through storytelling, meditation and ritual, we will explore some of the notable myths: including the Sacred Directions, the Chariot, the teachings of rishis and druids, the heroic sagas, Faery Lovers, and the Goddess of Sovereignty – all myths we share with India. Our ritual is the Seeking the Four Treasures. Through this course we will bridge mythic traditions.

More about Celtic Myth & Vedic Tradition

The majestic path of the Indo-European cultural tradition bridges East with West, leaving us with a rich heritage that we share in myth, folk-tale, and spiritual wisdom. Not only are we connected through our music, poetry and languages, but in our ancestral and cultural background. On this course, our 41st open mystery school gathering, we come together to explore this treasury of wisdom. We will discover these connections through storytelling, meditation and ritual.

Dwina Murphy-Gibb, Ulster playwright, poet and artist, as well as the author of several books will be co-facilitating on this course. Dwina has made a special study of the Vedic traditions over many years. Her Vedic Tarot brings that wisdom to everyone in a marvellous new way.

This weekend is for all who enjoy going deeper into the myths and traditions. Since 1986, John & Caitlín have led a ritual weekend on different topics. Many people return to enjoy the atmosphere of deep friendships and shared imaginations, in a wonderful annual reunion. This weekend is a celebration of deep winter, with a ceilidh on Saturday night, and you are invited to bring drinks and nibbles as part of this celebration.

Practical Information

Please bring a scarf/ shawl /robe for the ritual. A notebook and pen. Please bring drinks and nibbles and drinks to share at our annual ceilidh, as well as a poem/song or short piece to share, if you wish.

‘I treasure the experience, for it was deeply moving and so unexpected.’
